Choosing a Double Buggy For Twins Pram and Pushchair

A double buggy sale pram or pushchair can simplify life for families, particularly on busy footpaths or in stores and shops. Select a model that offers plenty of storage space to store nappies snacks, nappies, and other necessities.

Some parents who are first-time parents choose an infant pushchair that can be used as a single pram once baby is born. It can be transformed into a twin-mode after the baby is born. Joolz offers a wide range of options.

    Tandem

The news that you’re expecting a baby is one of the most exciting events in life. However, once the excitement fades and reality begins to sink in, you may be faced with a variety of choices regarding how to prepare your family for the arrival of your baby one or one. The right pram or stroller is one of the most important considerations.

Tandem prams, also referred to as “in-line” double prams, are a classic design with two bassinets or seats placed side-by-side. The front seat, which is typically cushioned, reclines flat and is suitable for infants. The second seat is upright and designed to fit toddlers as young as 3 years old. Some models allow you to select whether your children stare at each other or look outwards. Many tandems can be converted into one pushchair once your oldest child is no longer using the second seat.

A tandem is less expensive than a twin pram and can be an excellent choice for parents who wish to save money, without having to sacrifice safety or functional. A tandem can be a bit heavy and difficult to steer, particularly when negotiating curbs. It is also less stable than twin prams particularly if a larger child is seated in the front. A tandem can be difficult to place on public transportation, and it can be difficult to navigate narrow pavements.

The iCandy Peach, a popular model that is focused on image, is a great alternative for a single parent who wants an attractive design. However, the tandem mode makes it feel long and heavy to push. It’s got frames that can be expanded in width to accommodate the second seat. It can be used with a range of combinations of buggy seats, car seats and carrycots (two at a time or separately). The iCandy Wave tandem is another lightweight option that is easy to use and compatible with a variety of car seats or carrycots.

    Side by side

When it comes to selecting a double pushchair or pram there’s plenty to consider. There are many configuration options to choose from, regardless of whether you’re buying for twins or close-in-age siblings. Tandem prams, referred to as side-by-side prams are popular options because they can be set up so that the infant can be seated in the bassinet at the top while the older child or toddler is sitting in the second chair.

Some models come with convertible seats, which means you can alter the seating arrangement to your family’s requirements throughout the baby and toddler years. This allows you to keep your children in sight at all times and also gives them a an opportunity to interact with one another as they walk.

Tandem prams can be jogging buggies or all-terrain buggies. They are ideal for outdoor excursions, such as to the park. These are also good for narrow aisles or checkouts in supermarkets and shops as they are smaller.

The Redsbaby JIVE3 pram, for instance, can be used in tandem mode from birth with the addition of the Rumble seat. (PS249) Then, you can switch to the single mode when your little one grows out of the rumble seat or choose the car capsule adaptors (PS53) to turn it into a travel system from infant to toddler.

Another alternative is the Side by Side Pram from Babybee. The double side-by-side pram is available in a variety of colours and is designed with a modern design. Designed to be used right from birth, you can also include the LUNA Cocoon for newborns (PS262) and the LUNA Infant Seats (PS53 each).

The Egg 2 is a stylish elegant pushchair that can be transformed into a double side-by-side. It’s available in a variety of infant seat and carrycot combinations to accommodate twins or siblings of varying age groups and is easy to fold. It’s also fairly light making it an ideal option for those with small cars or limited storage space.

    Convertible

The best double prams and pushchairs are able to be used in multiple ways and some are capable of changing seating configurations to meet your family’s changing needs. You can fit up to three children on the seat board or two toddlers in the seats, and still have enough space for a shopping bag. Accessories such as rain covers are also available. Most convertible double strollers are bigger and heavier than single pushchairs as they are required to be able to accommodate two or more children. The Graco Modes Nest2Grow is one example of an affordable convertible which is very user-friendly, however our testers felt that it was a bit heavy for the price.

Some convertible double strollers like the Baby Jogger City Select 2 have a carrycot that is suitable for infants. This allows the double stroller to be compacted and reduce in size when not used. Our testers were impressed with the City Select’s unique one-handed fold. However, it does take some time to master. It also feels quite nimble and responsive, despite it being bigger than other cheap double buggy strollers.

The Cybex Mockingbird single-to-double infant stroller stroller is an alternative that is affordable. The seat converts from a rear-facing infant car seat to a forward-facing toddler seat, and the bassinet mode is a great choice for infants (although remember that babies under 4 months old should never use strollers to sleep due to the risk of positional asphyxia).

If you’re looking to expand your options, consider a dual-mode convertible such as the iCandy Peach. It’s a compact double stroller that can hold two children at the same time. It can also be used to make a tandem by adding a second seat kit. It’s responsive and agile and our test participants loved its sleek design. It’s not as light as the other pushchairs on our list however it does come with an ample shopping basket that is great for parents who carry bags full of toys and food.

    Lightweight

Some parents prefer to secure their double pushchair if they have one child and are expecting another so a convertible option is an excellent choice. The iCandy Peach allows you to transform from a single to a double pushchair by the addition of an infant seat or the brand’s carrycot (which is suitable for overnight sleeping). Our testers were pleased with how comfortable the seats are and loved the fact that they can recline in a variety of positions, have built-in foot and leg supports and have UPF 50+ canopies with peekaboo windows. The rear seat can be lifted high to offer an elevated platform for the older child to get off and on to allow them to reach items in the shopping basket.

Cher said that the only disadvantage of the iCandy Peach was its weight. However, she felt this was offset because it is easy to move and has plenty of storage with two cup holders for parents and their children, seat-back pockets, and a large basket underneath the seat. She also liked the seat’s design, which is reversible, so they can be set to face each other for siblings who wish to chat and interact together while out and out and about.

The Delta Children LX Side-by-Side Stroller is a smaller model however, it is still awe-inspiring. It weighs only 18 pounds, is compact, and has self-standing fold, making it easy to carry around or put in your trunk. Parents are impressed by the quality of the materials and workmanship and the affordable price. The only downsides are that the seats do not recline as much compared to other models we have tested and the rear seat isn’t as prominent because of its position as it is higher than the front seat.

The Joolz Geo 3 is another popular choice. It’s slim, sleek and easy to steer and comes with a lifetime guarantee. It’s worth bearing in mind that despite their narrower design side by side prams are larger than tandems and in-line doubles. They can be tricky to navigate on crowded footpaths or in shops. However, they are often shorter too, so can be easier to turn in tight spaces than tandems.
